why choose D4-80?

  • Duplex Microstructure for Strength and Toughness

The duplex microstructure combines the high strength of ferrite with the toughness of austenite. The two phases work together to deliver an excellent balance of strength and toughness.

  • Higher Strength with Less Cold Working

316L stainless steel has a yield strength of approximately 200 MPa after solution annealing, while A4-80 relies on substantial cold work to achieve its required strength. Duplex stainless steel has a higher inherent yield strength, allowing D4-80 to achieve the required strength with less cold working .

  • Enhanced Corrosion Resistance Through Alloying

The higher contents of chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo), and nitrogen (N) work together to improve D4-80's resistance to chloride-induced pitting and crevice corrosion.
