SMA(Shape Memory Alloy) is a kind of smart material which have the special property of remembering their shapes after being pre-stressed, by heating above a critical temperature. Early SMA materials mainly included Ni-Ti and copper-based alloys that have been used in aerospace and healthcare applications. But now, Fusteel has developed a new cost-effective SMA material which offers significantly lower production costs (10% of Ni-Ti SMA Material) and recovery a relatively high activation temperature range of 170°C–300°C, and no need for mechanical training, enabling broader applications in civil engineering. At present, current applications include bridge maintenance and intelligent post-tensioning systems for infrastructure monitoring and maintenance.
